Using HP refill for Brother printer

Just wondering if anybody has any idea if refilling the black cartridge from my Brother Printer with ink from a refill kit I have for my departed HP printer would be ok?
I'm a little confused as with the refill kits, you buy for a particular printer/brand so am unsure if the inks from different brands are not compatible.
I know the Brother cartridges are cheap, but finding I have 2 boxes of the refill kits still for the old HP I wondered if I could use them up in this way.

The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.
