aww I love newcastle.. we usually stay at the formule 1 or a travelodge because we're poor students so can't help you on that one. :(

You say you don't want trouble like Newc has some kind of reputation?! Not any more it hasn't! ha ha

The Quayside is great, along with the Grey street area (leading from the Monument down the hill to the Quayside..) The Quayside has some world class architecture- and bridges obviously.

Failing that, you have The Gate; thats a new place that has a cinema (I think), Tiger Tiger, some nice restaurants and bars, but it's a bit samey- chain bars etc

Osborne Road in West Jesmond (5 mins on Metro- 2 stops from Haymarket/ 3 from Monument) is great for saturday afternoon drinking- lots of 'sports' type bars that are always buzzing, but not rough at all.

If you fancy something a bit more towny, you can always go to the (Legendary in the 80s and 90s) Bigg Market. That can get a bit rough though, so be careful. Gay village in near Central Station, but that IMO is boring and shallow.

    Have fun!
  • There is another thread on here with great info on it not sure how to post the link. started last year i think.
  • Newcastle is a great place to go!!
'The Head of Steam' near the station is a great pub and has an amazing selection of beers
