After 18 months engaged we have finally decided that eloping into the sunset is our best option and having a party when we get back.
I am looking for a real low hassle option and I wondered if anyone can offer any opinions for where to go to get married that is easy peasy and also any estimates of how much to will cost for a basic wedding ceremony with just us and no guests in a foreign clime.
Thanks

On a similar thread posted recently, someone suggested a good idea.
The easiest thing would be to have the legal ceremony in the UK (saves the hassel of figuring out what documents you need) then having a blessing overseas.0 -
Just need to convince OH of this. He thinks that if we do it in the UK it is rude not to invite all and sundry, I tend to agree....

I see your point, although it depends on your friends & family.
I'm sure having a simple registry office wedding could be done cheap and you could have a few close friends & family there, followed by the same party you'd have after you came back from abroad, so it's not much different really.
Plus it might be cheaper that way, rather than paying for flights, hotels, legal documents etc.
Have a look on your local council website - they should have details of some venues that you can have your ceremony at0 -
Hiya,
Myself and my partner have recently got engaged and are also planning to elope. We contacted a company who specialise in arranging weddings abroad - you could go somewhere like Sri Lanka for the wedding and holiday for under £3000 which is pretty awesome. Some destinations are more complicated than otheres - for example Thailand is expensive and the legalities make things difficult.
We have decided to have a registry office wedding here followed by a blessing at a quirky venue of our choice - we're not inviting anyone but we are both agreed on this! Then we get to go on the honeymoon that we want, without the complexities of getting married there!
Either way, it's going to work out a lot cheaper than a full wedding over here!0 -
Hi
Me and OH were planning on eloping (along with our 2 kids) in New York, but in the end my mum and a few others came out so it wasn't much of an elopement in the end, but we had a great time. It was really easy to do, just need your passports and divorce documents if any of you have been wed before. Got hitched at the marraige bureau and it cost abot $60 dollars all in. It was really stress free, got some wonderful memories, and a really nice holiday in the coolest city ever.March 2014 Grocery challenge £250.000 -
