Court Letter

A letter from the courts has arrived at my home for the previous tennant saying that they will be sending bailiffs round.
I have returned this to the court as "not known at this address". This person lived there before the people before me and left the address at least 18 months ago - I have never even met him.
Can anyone tell me if I should be concerned about this?
Thank you in advance.

It must be that this is the debtors last known address and so that is where any court papers etc have to legally be sent.
You did the right thing in returning the letter.
If bailiffs do still come then don't let them in and just tell them you have lived there for X amount of time and have never met the person they are looking for.
If they get difficult you could tell them you will be happy to send something in the post to prove you live there (such as a copy of your tenancy agreement or perhaps council tax bill). In fact some people would suggest it might be worth having a copy of your tenancy agreement to hand to prove you live there and are not who they are looking for.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -

I'd be one of those.:)
I wonder if it's worth trying to get something from your LL confirming the date the debtor tenant vacated?0 -
Thank you both.
I did ask the agency that we rent via what to do with the post (there is a lot of it considering they moved out 18 months ago). The agency said they had no forwarding address and that I should bin it.
I haven't been binning it but just returning everything "not known at this address".
I do have a copy of the tenancy agreement to hand just in case.
Thank you for putting my mind at rest. Ive got enough on my plate sorting out my own debts without other peoples! lol0
