I've just been given a bread maker as a present and love it (Its the second link one on here).
I've made 3 loaves so far and found the mix from scratch better than the just add water stuff.New to this site so please my excuse dumbness.
I have my sealed pot and I WILL save some money this year.Aiming for £4000 -
Just to add IMO you can taste breadmaker bread a mile off. It has an obvious texture. You may want to try just making some from hand normally. It takes a bit of practice but once you get OK with it. It really doesn't take long. There seems to be a lot of mysticism about it when if fact it's pretty simple to make a basic bread recipe. It's alo Money saving as you save the cost of a breadmaker.0

I have a panasonic like rosielx and reckon it costs around 45p for a medium loaf, depending which flour I buy
Are your pricings worked on a white loaf or a wholemeal loaf? I make a Panny half/half white/wholemeal and keep meaning to work out the costings.Piglet

I too have a Panasonic breadmaker which is in constant use and has paid for itself. I use it for bread (white and wholemeal) and also for pizza dough and would definitely recommend the machine. The only negatives are the machine does take up quite a bit of space and I haven't acquired the slicing skill to use the bread in sandwiches (although it is usually is eaten before it has time to get cold!). I would agree with the above post that more expensive flour sometimes seems to make a slightly better loaf.
Yes I wondered about the slicing...my 'fresh bread' slicing comes up rather angular!!!"A smile takes but a moment...

I'd really, really love to make my own bread but when I used my old breadmaker, the bread came out all heavy/cake-like, whereas I like it light and airy.
Does anybody have a fail-proof recipe ? Thank youKeep calm and carry on0 -
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men
