Pricing - same item in two stores but different price?

Options
Quick question - I saw a skirt I liked in Asda and it was in the sale at the Asda Living Store on Wednesday at half price (£9) but didn't have my size.

I have today been to do my food shopping and fill car up with petrol at Eastlands Store and bought the skirt as they had my size. However, when I've check my bill it is full price at £18. I wouldn't normally bother but bit annoyed that although wrong size it was half the price on Wednesday at another store...can they do this???

I've looked online for the skirt and it's not even listed anymore. On principle I am tempted to take it back!!!

Many thanks in advance if anyone knows if they can do this or whether I can argue that it should be half the price?

Their shops they can do what they like.
