Help to start a local foodbank

I've also posted this in the charities board, but thought perhaps people on this board might be able to help too.
OK, I hope that this is the right place to post...
I recently read an article about foodbanks and am thinking of starting one locally. As I understand it, the nearest ones are many miles away from my vicinity.
Is anyone able to offer any advice, suggestions or practical help? I haven't done anything like this before so not sure where to start! Can anyone think of a suitable venues that might donate space to do this, the only places I can think of are churches. Have you been involved in one and would be able to help to set up a foodbank too, if so, please let me know!
The article I read is here: (http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk...n-2158111.html)
Thank you

I've not been involved in foodbanks, but it might be worth asking at your local allotments, they often have a surplus that they may be willing to donate and may have some ideas for you.0
