I thought Body Shop was owned by L'oreal since Anita died? Are they owned by Nestle? I used to be a BS rep, and the quality of all the body butter has definitely gone sloppy creamy and is no longer the lovely thick butter it used to be. Just a personal observation. I loved Body Shop in the past.0

Nestle! owns 30% of the world's largest cosmetics and beauty company L'Oreal and its brands including Garnier, Maybelline, and Lancome as well as The Body Shop stores.0 -
OMG! I really did not know that. Thankyou for the information. Did not know about Lancome either!!0

I have found that with the body butters as my fave is the coconut one and one I bought instore was more creamy. Then on one of the BOGOF and glitch deals I bought loads on line and the ones I've opened so far seem to be the thick butter. I think although they've changed it they must send out old stock when you buy on discount or something! At the moment it's like a lucky dip with the small stock I have in my cupboard.0 -

A ritual has grown up among the middle class in this country to not buy Nescafe and other Nestle products, because a long long time ago there was a scandal about Nestle selling powdered milk to African mothers which was bad. The thinking was that African women aren't very bright. It's completely racist, but the middle class boycotters think that if they don't buy Nestle stuff, they will go to heaven. It is just a superstitious ritual but if it makes people feel good why not? No worse than buying indulgences in the middle ages. And we get the bargains.0 -

Not exactly a balanced view there?
It's not the fact that formula is sold to African mothers (it's not a 'long long time ago', it still occurs), nor their intelligence to look after their own babies and it is not limited to Africa, but a number of developing countries.
It is more the aggressive marketing employed by Nestle (eg samples given out for free in hospitals only to be withdrawn once mother & baby have left which means it's already disrupted lactation cycles), sold without guidance or explaination of the importance of sterilisation (not to mention the problems of finding clean water in the first place) & the lack of adequate translation on packaging (would you be comfortable using formula when the packet doesn't have a single word you understand on it?).2011 wins: 2x Nike Footballs, 5x £10 Sports Direct Vouchers, 2x magazine subs, Revlon lipstick, Models Own make up product0 -
