Serious pay Issue

Can anyone point me in the direction of where I can get advice as to where I stand/what i do with regard to not being paid correctly? I have been working for a certain retailer and have not been credited or paid for a single hour I have worked over my contracted hours even though I have done well over 40 extra hours recently.I have a feeling it could boil down to my word against theirs as there is no way I can prove for sure that I have done the hours aside from my signing in and out of the building. Some of these extra hours are rostered and sometimes manager has asked me to work a bit extra or come on on my rostered day off twice.

it could be a time lag... dont over cook it to start with, just have a simple discussion with your boss... ie, i think there has been a mistake ... can you clarify! etc...

well tbh last months pay slip didnt have the 14 hours I had done then . I called HR then and they had NO record of my extra hours.. I spoke to my boss then re this and he said it would be included in my December pay but I seem to have earned LESS in December than november??

This retailer are apparently notorious amongst staff for messing up pls pay and in various other ways are unprofessional and disorganised. I will check throughly with HR tomorrow and in the meantime bring this up casually with boss today if they are in.Before being able to say to him with certainty that HR have no record of my extra time etc... I have an awful feeling this will come to being nasty andthe terrible thign is I seem to have been rostered past the end of temp contract date which means they might be wanting to keep me on..I wont sign another contract with them until i am paid correctly for this one but dont want to have to effectively say no.

Signing/not signng does not matter, if you work past the date of the temp contract then you are still on that contract and they you just have to give notice to terminate it.

Check the terms of the contract for the termintion requirements if you want to leave at the end of he fixed term

If Rostered there are records so send these to HR.

If working extra days notify HR&boss in writing that you are doing the extra day so they get paid or ask for different days off.

    Something like,

    Dear Boss/HR,

Thanks for asking me to come in on XX in addition to my normal working week, I can confirm I am avaialble for YY hours on XX and expect the normal/enhansed rate for these hours.

Talk to your boss, first. It sounds like s/he agreed you did the hours anyway. Once you get verbal confirmation of *exactly* what will happen (ie, boss will email HR / payroll, and it will be put into your Feb pay etc), then follow it up with a letter to your boss, ccd to the HR manager. Hand-deliver if you can.

In future, confirm all additional hours in writing with your boss, and follow up immediately in the same way if not paid.

It sounds like incompetence to me, rather than a deliberate attempt to not pay you.

I hope you get it sorted. :)
