HSBC Bank Charges Shocker!!

Well, my loan was due out of my HSBC account last week, I only use the account for the loan payments now. Anyway I woke up in the early hours on the day it was due remembering that I had not transferred the extra £30 to make up the full amount. I was straight on the phone to First Direct who sent the money instantly, phew thought I, the nick of time.
On Sunday I checked my account and found that prior to paying the money in they had already taken the DD, bounced it and whacked a £30 quid charge on!! After going through the rigmarole of claiming back £2K's worth of charges earlier this year I decided to forget it for the night and sort it out later.
Imagine my surprise when I logged in tonight to find the loan payment taken and the £30 refunded along with an e-mail apology for the mistake and any distress the incident may have caused!!!! :j I'm utterly gobsmacked, I had decided that they had it in for me and I was going to be in for a fight to get the money back.
The moral of the story - miracles can happen! :rotfl:

I've got a feeling that the only reason it was refunded was because my extra money was paid in very early in the morning, meaning I could track the fact that the rejection and charge had happened prior to 3 a.m. I don't think they would have dared used the argument that a real person had rejected the payment, it was clearly an automatic process, as I had already claimed back one set they decided to save themselves the bother. Not that I'm complaining of course!Total Debt at start of challenge : ££26563.92
