There are two versions of the tomy nintendog:

The Nintendog Trick Trainer Pup has a GRP of £9.99 (the one at Play.com)

The Nintendog Interactive Pup is £24.99 (Amazon)

You are not comparing the same thing! Easy mistake - had me fooled.

More info can found at http://www.tomy.co.uk/products/nintendogs-interactive/

Edit: Actually some of the ones listed at Amazon and sold by niche_toys are the cheaper ones selling for twice the normal price! Not a bargain!

The previous post giving the link to Amazon is the right one I think as the price is £19.99 so much better deal at Play. I've ordered one so big thanks to OP.

They are £9.99 from most places…I think Amazon has overpriced them.

I asked my 8 year old son if these would be a good Christmas present for his friend (my Goddaughter also 8) and his face dropped a mile. He did say she would love it and now changed what he was wanting for Christmas from a Scalextric Power Slide (£80plus) to the Nintendogs training Pup - he is animal mad but thanks to OP saved me a fortune!:T

Play.com are also really reliable - not like HMV - I am still waiting for the Nintendo DS game that I ordered several weeks ago!
  • I think I am missing something here, on play.com it says

"Dog trainer is the perfect partner for all the Nintendogs versions.
It's so simple - just load the Dog Trainer cartridge, pick any or even all of the cool features you want in your game, and play!"

THIS IS NOT THE SOFT TOY VERSION THAT IS INTERACTIVE! ?????

If I am reading something wrong please let me know, as my DD is getting the pinkDS lite and Nintendogs for her xmas.....

    Thanks

It's these that the OP meant.

The OP is talking the cuddly toy (Trick trainer pups) – not about the games for the DS.

The trick trainer pup usually costs £9.99 – Amazon has overpriced it.

You can also get Interactive play pups that sell at £24.99.

There are a few links on this page and one of them goes to play.com and shows a ds cartridge - Dog Trainer. I think you need to have a nintendogs cartridge and then you put this cartridge in before the nintendogs cartridge and it gives you unlimited things rather than you having to start from scratch with your new pet.
Hope Ive explained it ok :) its sort of like a cheat disc that you can get with other consoles

please note: you need Nintendogs for this.

This is just a cheat game for Nintendogs...

I think my oldest might really like the Dog Trainer cheat thing but it doesn't get a very good review on Amazon. Though then again it looks like a few of the bad reviews might be by the same person. Does anyone know of a review for this anywhere else?

the cheat thing takes away the whole point of Nintendogs, imho.

you need to train the nintendog used in the console so it can win competitions and get more money for other dogs.

If you have everything there it takes all the fun away.

As for the cuddly toy, well.. I'd say it has limited value playwise, we had an Avon version a few years back that entertained for around half an hour before it became just another cuddly toy.
