Quidity and other PrePaid cards

Yeah, i'm going to go for the MasterCard Gold Pay As You Go PrePaid card.
All the advice from you guys has been priceless, thanks.
I have my Paypal linked to my business account at the moment, not my current account, as i just hate the fact they could empty it if they ever they felt like it. Linking this prepaid card to Ebay means they can only affect what's on there. If however that's not possible, i'll use the balance on my prepaid to quickly top up my account, instead of waiting 7days for a bank transfer.
Right... i'll apply soon.
Just seen that MoneySupermarket have done a big piece on them. But my work browser is rubbish. So i'll read it at home tonight & finally decide.
Thanks all.I've used M.S.E to sort out my debts,my savings, my insurance, my LIFE.
Back on track now so much love to Mr Lewis!:money:0 -
Quoted from MoneySupermarket website at this link:
http://www.moneysupermarket.com/cards/prepaid-cards-guide1.asp
"It makes sense to look for a prepaid card with low sign-up, annual, monthly and top-up fees. However, there are other things to consider when deciding on the right card for you:
* What are the reload options - can you pop into a local bank, can you reload online, etc?
* Can you manage the card online - can you see transactions, etc?
* Is there a 24hr service to load money on to the card when necessary?
* Is there a free additional card?
* What level of protection does the card company offer?
As with a credit card, shopping around is the key to getting the best deal for you. At the moment the prepaid card market is emerging but with time the competition will increase and this will in turn drive down costs and hidden fees.
At moneysupermarket.com we provide a unique price comparison tool, which gives you the chance to compare prepaid cards, their fees (including withdrawal fees and monthly fees) and their additional benefits such as their reload options and whether you can manage your account online."
There you go!I've used M.S.E to sort out my debts,my savings, my insurance, my LIFE.

Hi Steve...
Although I am not questioning the independent opinion of moneysupermarket, i think they seem to build up cards where they are being paid a click-through fee (only 2 of the 10 cards listed). Also, they have not mentioned two of the new cards available - the clydesdale bank and yorkshire bank travel cards... and i think i mentioned this before - some of the information on their is pretty old as is the guide they have produced.
I'd wait for Martin to comment before making any moves at all :0)

also for a number of other guys - Maestro, Cirrus and Mastercard are all Mastercard brands - obviously acceptance is highest for the Mastercard Brand but I have not experienced any problems whatsoever with Maestro...
I would not base my decision solely on whether to go for Maestro or Mastercard - they both work just as well in the UK and abroad - i think there is a lot of hearsay which is not necessarily correct.
I think it is worth finding out for yourself....see the maestro website
http://www.maestrocard.com - i have no qualms about maestro whatsoever!
cheers ppl - enjoy your prepaid cards!!0 -
I still like the idea of the Quidity card. You don't pay a stupidly high APR %, unlike a credit card. They only charge you when you use it, so you're not paying out to get the card in the first place or each month on a fee and the transaction fee is really low. It's great for use online or telephone purchases when you can't get a credit card or don't want one. I think it's the best one on the market at the moment ... and no, I'm not getting a backhander!0

I think they should be paying you Mrs Mab cause you are doing a pretty good job promoting them :0)0

So to round off this topic
which card is the BEST at the moment?0 -
I'd go with the new Splash Plastic Card, or otherwise quidity but if you are a must have "MasterCard" logo kinda guy then , go for cashplus - more expensive to buy, use but has the MasterCard logo. :0)0

Just found this online with respect to the Splash Plastic card

I wonder if prepaid cards are now on myspace and youtube, etc. Seems like they are starting to recognise the value of social networking sites. This might make them cheaper if sign up is high.
Interesting - FYI!!

There are a few good prepaid cards out there. Ive just ordered a blue corner one with 0% foreign transactions for use on holiday. I'm not good at saving money so I've given the card to my mum for safe keeping and I'm going to top it up every week so I build up a nice lump sum of spending money. Just an idea! There are many things in life that will catch your eye, only a few will catch your heart. Pursue those.0
