That's an old blog post there are 47 listed in London now on the main site.

sorry - just thought it would be a bench mark to start looking at tripadvisor and areas!!! Can sympathise as we are family of 5 and have trouble booking hotels thus if heading away we go to self catering apartment or if locally we bought a caravan :)

A lot of hotels have 'Family rooms' that aren't always advertised on Expedia etc. I called around and ended up with one from The Royal Trafalgar, just off Trafalgar Square for about £112-ish a night. The Concierge was very accommodating and helped us pick the best option. It had a king sized bed with a double pull out couch and was very spacious.

Breakfast buffet was included too. :)

I have used this hotel before:

    http://www.thanethotel.co.uk/prices

It is a budget B&B (prices don't look budget but for London they are!). It is basic - don't expect a luxury hotel. But it's nicer than the central London travelodges and the cooked breakfast was decent.

They have a room that sleeps five (one double bed and three singles) at £160 per night, including breakfast.

I stayed in a twin room with mum once when we went to the theatre. As I said, it's basic but does the job. For central London it's on a quiet street and is near Holborn tube (central line). Theatreland is a ten minute walk away. Oxford Street shopping is two stops on the tube (or a 20 min or so walk).

crowne plaza - part of the holiday inn offer two double beds and a rollaway bed in their double rooms, we had two 10 year olds, two adults and 6 year old in our room.. though officially you would book the room for 4 but terms and conditions say every room has space for rollaway.

weekend before xmas we booked a night at heathrow crowne plaza as they have a heath spa with pool that we can use for free. when arrived in london we parked at a turnham green station to save congestion charges and parking, fare for tube was £5 per adult to travel all day in london (get oyster card) and children under 11 are free to travel, this what we found was the cheapest option for us for a 4 * with out occuring parking and congestion and getting maximum room space. this worked out well for us as we live in bristol.

Thanks this seems like a great option for us. Did you tell them you had 3 children when you booked or just sneak them in as you cant officially book for 5. How close is the tube station from the hotel as im unsure how to get into London centre? I take it you were room only with no breakfast ?
