I think they carefully time the sending of the vouchers! I took my daughter on Sunday to get a coat she'd seen in Tesco.

What turns up in Monday's post? Yep - some Tesco clothing vouchers. And of course she'd worn the coat on Monday, so no chance of doing a sly return and re-purchase.

I may be a bit late posting this, but 2 thoughts:

    1. Apparently there is a clothing sale starting next week, and

    2. What's to stop you doing a sly 're-purchase then return' (other way round to the way you are thinking)? You re-buy the item in the sale, make sure that it doesn't have any obvious sale stickers on ;) , then return the sale item with the full-price receipt........well that's what I would do (worth doing after Xmas if you keep receipts like I do - and if you dare)!

Oh good, it's not just me then?!

I try to buy most items in November and December, from shops with a good returns policy (I find most will accept receipts dated Nov or Dec if you are quick to return an 'unwanted' item in the post-xmas sales). Also if you pay by Credit Card in December and get a refund in January you don't actually pay full price at all, just sale-prices!

I am VERY good at keeping receipts safely, I never put them in the bag with the goods as they can get mislaid when doing the mad wrapping up!

I have done this with Calendars, but also with boxed games, console games, books and kids' clothes that I am pretty sure will be reduced come Dec 26th.

I think it's funny when other people go to the sales and think, 'Damn, I paid £50 for that before xmas and it's £20 now!'. Whereas I would think, 'Oh good, I paid £50 for that before xmas and it's £20 now.......I will buy it again!'

The only places you cannot do this sort of shopping at are shops like Next where they actually mark all their sale goods, or HMV who have the most terrible returns policy (i.e. you can exchange but not refund!).

  • Thanks OP - went to my larger Tescos today and got one. The pharmacy assistant was abit crabby and said I had to make a purchase at the pharmacy to get one. I commented I had bought paracetamols from the shelf so did that count. So I got one.

Later had to take my mum shopping so went back and bought a 30p item and got another freebie goodie bag. Also directed mum to the pharmacy and she was really pleased with hers too.

    Thanks Welshy x
