Fingers crossed I won't be on here again

Well, I've finally cancelled my DH's Standing Order for his kids that he hasn't seen for too many years (not his choice btw and the courts were no help).

His youngest turns 19 tomorrow so hopefully this will be my last ever post on this subject.

Thanks to all who have answered my questions over the years and best wishes to all other Dads who have been and are being screwed by the CSA, hopefully one day, things will get fairer.

Is your DH paying the standing order to the CSA for the child support?

If so, I wouldn't just cancel the S/O as his payments are paid in arrears & the CSA WILL NOT close the case until payments have been made at least up to & usually beyond their closure date. They will then send a refund for any overpayments.

Sometimes, you just have to go along with their over complicated systems just to make life a bit easier for yourselves.

 You have to ruin everything, would have been a nice start to the New Year, but yes you are correct payments are weekly or monthly in arrears, the OP should check what the payment schedule suggests.

sod that. that's probably the worst advice i've seen on here, and i've read some total tosh.

stop the payments and let the chimps eventually sort it out and let you know.

i've heard of people waiting bloody years to get overpayments back off those idiots.

Somehow, I don't think that's the worst advice you've ever seen on here. I've seen some of your previous posts!!!!!!!!!!

If you want to keep battling with with the CSA for longer than you need to, then fair enough, follow your advice.

However, I can assure you from personal experience, sometimes it's easier to go along with their systems unless you're clearly being ripped off, in order to bring your case to a closure in the quickest possible time.

My refund took approximately 6 weeks; not great but definitely better & less hassle than months of comings & goings with the CSA.

My plan is that the Standing Order is cancelled, I have contacted them via their website and, if there is any final payment due, I will make a one off payment to them.

That was my plan too & they were having none of it.

They refused point blank to give me a settlement figure & insisted the case would remain open until the next normal monthly payment was made even though it took me 2 weeks past the closure date.

As I stated earlier, I found the quickest option was to reluctantly go along with it & my refund arrived approx. 6 weeks after closure date.

By the way, I was dealing with Birkenhead if that makes any difference.

you deal with them your way and i'll deal with them mine.

i know people who've waited years for refunds. also assisting in a case where the PWC has been fraudulently claiming CB and CS for over a year and stilll taking 15% off nrp. to date he is owed over £900 and never mond a bloody refund, they're still too pig headed and stooooopid to even rectify the mistake, let alone sort a refund.

following your advice, the battle will only be drawn out.

you were lucky to get yours sorted in 6 weeks, it takes them that long normally to figure out how to open their box of crayons to write you a reply.:rotfl:
