I hope you can help me please?
There are a couple of things that are happening at the moment and I don't know if they are the same problem.
Any ideas please?
There are a couple of things that are happening at the moment and I don't know if they are the same problem.
- I cannot watch DVD's on my computer. I have a Toshiba Satellite A60 and all of a sudden it's stopped letting me watch DVD's. I've clicked on "my computer and "d" drive" and it shows that there is no disc in the drive, when of course there is. The menu doesn't even come up when a disc is inserted. It's just like there is no disc in there whatsoever. What's strange is that the drive works when I am converting and burning other discs, but playing discs it just does not recognise. Why is this happening and what can I do about it please?
- Sometimes when I boot up in the morning, I get a dark blue screen, followed by safe mode, followed by this message: http://oca.microsoft.com/en/response.aspx?SGD=9d1eea1a-38bd-419d-a727-df46511ac0d2&SID=11
Any ideas please?

The possible solution to 2. is in the link you posted, under 'Action for you to take'. Have you tried them? G0

Yes I have performed the manual action it says. Since I've done that it happens every so often

Can anyone help me as to why I can't play DVD's?0 -

Does it pick up CD's in the drive OK, sounds like a duff disk drive to me?0
-
When I click on the disc drive it shows that there is no disc in the drive at all! When I put a disc in, it starts whirring and then stops and then nothing.
As I said, it's surprising because I can burn and convert in that disc drive. Does it mean the disk drive is duff then?0 -

Sorry to be thick .... but how do I reinstal my DVD player software?
I'm new at all of this.:o 0 -
I think billywhizz is right.
If you cannot even read disks (have I misunderstood?) then it's impossible to reinstall the original DVD playing software (unless you can get the program copied to a USB flash disk first & install it that way). Installing the free player isn't going to help much either.
It looks like the read head(s) has packed up while the write head continues to work. G0 -

Seems like it won't read them.
Oh no ... can it be fixed ... is it expensive? :eek:0 -
Try posting these queries at the Toshiba Support Forums - choose the correct subforum.

What happens when you start up your DVD playing software and try opening the disk from there?
Also if you reboot the PC with the disk already in the tray and then open My Computer does it show the disk is there? If so you may have Autorun set to off.0
