The Clinique assistant in Walsall refused to do an exchange - because I didn't take in a Clinique brand mascara.
Said the offer was only on their own brand.
Perhaps she wanted to keep them for her friends?0 -
Finally a use for my clumpy dried up rimmel one with a scratchy plastic brush. It is quite small, in a red tube, don't remember the name. Ergh advertising made me buy it, and regret it.
Can't get to town until Friday, hopefully they will still have some clinique left to swap it for!
Saving for a year in Japan.
I need around £10,000. Help me get there! :cool:0 -
The clinique counter assistant happily took my old mascara, and gave me a mini mascara.:j0

Gonna try Preston Debenhams on Friday as that's when I'll be there. Has anyone been there and been successful getting one?0

Gave a purple primark 50p one bought when boots were doing this and gave it for a clinique one!
Thanks again OP!0 -
Hi Guys - just thought I would point out that Origins actually does a very similar offer - for recycling empty cosmetic containers.
When I went they had a few different ones to choose from so i just got a moisturiser (smells lovely) as far as i am aware its still running and you can bring in any brand of cosmetics (i brought in an empty moisturiser bottle - not origins).
The below info is on their website
"Now you can bring your empty cosmetic tubes, bottles and jars, etc. - regardless of brand - to your nearest Origins counter nationwide. All returned packaging will be sent back to WasteCare, our recycling partner, where products will be recycled or used for energy recovery.
In an industry first, Origins will accept packaging from any cosmetic company regardless of the manufacturer. We believe that the more we collect from consumers, the more we can keep cosmetic packaging out of landfill. And we hope this programme will encourage other companies into following our example.
To thank you for joining us in our commitment to the environment, we'll treat you to a FREE sample of an Origins high-performance skincare product."
Good luck recycling and with your freebies!0 -
I went into Debenhams in Chelmsford with my old mascara (a CLINIQUE one) and the lady serving refused to change it for a new one BECAUSE it was a Clinique one - so Beware in case this happens to you. I queried and was to the promotion was to get new customers not to reward old ones!! So I think they just lost a good customer :-(0
