That's my problem, I'm afraid. I was never very specialised. I worked for many years in Care of the Elderly, then orthopaedic surgery, renal and then colorectal surgery. Sammyantha, do you think I should just not put any more time or money into this? It sounds as if, realistically, I may be throwing my money down the drain.

No I don't think you're wasting money at all. Nursing is one area where there will always be work, even if on occasion it's a little harder to come by :)

Did you ever contact the education dept of the hospital where you worked?

Bank work is an idea. Many of the companies that I recruit for will train nurses in any areas they have fallen behind on/ are not experienced in. Your volume of past experience stands you in good stead so don't give up!

Thanks once again. I have contacted both HR and the education dept. I just was trying to count up how many hours I may have worked in 2006, and I honestly don't think I am going to have enough hours to avoid a RTP course. I just have to wait on the depts calling me with the info. I am going to contact the local PCT today to find out if they offer RTP courses.

(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...
