I just started cemap 1 and I know what you mean by boring. I fell asleep after page 5. Not sure how I am going to get through it. Important stuff to know, but REALLY BORING memorising it.
Sorry can't help with 2 or 3. Quite a pointless post on my part, just offering sympathies.0 -

you could try what I did ( Cemap Bridge) ... just read the book the night before exam - although I think my years in the industry might have helpedAny posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0 -

my boss failed it 5 times so he just said take a test and fail it - best way to learn - strange but cool
@maryjane:
all that goes through me head when i read it is
1: I Dont Need Half Of It
2: I Dont Understand Most of It
3: What the hell am i reading
4: ZZZZZzzzzz

Book the exam so you have a timescale to work for.
Remind yourself why you want to take the exam (career prospects, increased income, etc.)
2 & 3 are a lot easier as they are somewhat more interesting.0 -
Can you get your hands on any of the associated study materials - maybe you may find a CD ROM more interesting (slightly!)....
....taking and failing does work as your boss has mentioned as it gives you a feel for whats needed - expensive tho!
But pointers from my study (which ive spent more time on than I care to think about!) -
* Read in small chunks of about 20 mins a time and take a short 5 min break to make a cupper between - this helps prevent boredom.
* Little and often is better than great big chunks so make use of lunch breaks and journeys to and from work.
* Discuss what your learning to aid understanding.
* Make notes so you can concentrate on the important stuff.
* Do as many practice papers/questions as you can get your hands on
And what I found most important - don't fall into the trap of spending all your time on the interesting subjects - they're usually the ones you already have a good understanding of.
Best of luck for the exam, and yes with CeMap they do get better after paper 1.0 -

My daughter told me she totally agrees with this
She is taking her cemap 1 for the 2nd time next week. She also told me that the CDs are very expensive but if you look on Ebay you can get copies really cheap. He who asks is a fool for five minutes, but he who does not ask remains a fool forever.

I found CeMAP one to be the easiest. Its just a regurgitating of facts. I took 1 month to do it. If I remember correctly it was in 4 sections. Give yourself one week for each section. Read the whole lot. then take it by stages. Make lots of notes. Then also use the CD with all the questions and do the self tests on there. Just to let you know that the questions on the CD are not quite the same as the exams and also are easier than in the real exam situation.0

I studied from the ifs 'revision notes', which are much more succinct and easier to digest than the full study material, then going to the full texts when I wanted/needed more in depth detail. The disc with practise questions I also found excellent, quite like the real papers, fun to do and highlight very quickly areas you need to study more.
