As a employed individual, how do i claim back expenses for my work.
I have in the past used the P87 form to claim back mileage.
However, is there an uppper limit on the claim that i might make.
Currently my last claim was 2300 pounds, however i have been told that i can only use the P87 for up to 2500 pounds.
If i do say 10000 miles could i still use the P87 form to claim the mileage?

If your claim is over £2500 then it meets the criteria for SA.0

10000 miles would be £4000, so you could not us a P87.0

On a P87 is the £2500 maximum the amount at the bottom of the form?
i.e......could it be say 10000 miles @ 40p = £4000, less say 10000 miles @ 20p paid by employer, giving a claim of £2000.
Or does it have to cover the initial total of all expenses? (If you see what I mean)0 -
It's the net amount of the claim that determines whether or not a P87 is required. So if any reimbursements take the amount under £2500 then a P87 can be used.0

Do i have to apply for a self assessment form, or could i still fill out a P87 form were my claim is over £2500.
I'm not adversed to filling out a SA, but i will only be filling in this section only. So this seems a little bit of an overkill.0
