Not sure if this is the right forum but it is about reclaiming
We have an electric pole/post in our garden some one told us that you can claim money from the electric company for this ?
Does any one know if this is true ?
And how would I go about claiming this have googled it but can't find anything.
Also next doors electric is attached to our house and is very unsightly the cable runs right along the back of our house does any one know if I can make the electric company move it free of charge.
Many thanks for any help

do you own the house? if so, surely this would have been reflected in the purchase price.0

Electric Albanians tend to be more troublesome.0

There will have been a wayleave agreement signed originally for the installation of this pole and lines which may have paid a very small amount to the house holder. However having had a quick look for current information I found thisSince 1989, ALL wayleaves can be retained by the power companies, using the fast track ‘necessary wayleave’ procedure –
ANY wayleave, which you sign can bind you and anyone to whom you later sell your property. Also, you are likely to face a bill, for the costs of diverting lines or cables, if a wayleave has ever existed for the equipment affecting your property. (A wayleave automatically rolls over to affect future owners, under the Electricity Act 1989.)
I can't comment as to whether this is up to date or not but would recommend a letter to your power company to check things out.
( By the way - haven't dealt with electricity poles myself, only telegraph poles)0 -

What would be the formality with telegraph poles in which case please?
If its on your land then look on openreach.co.uk and search for wayleaves to get the contact details. (Sorry won't let me post a link)
If its on the public maintainable highway there's probably no point.
By public highway i mean anything between the first physical boundary on each side of a public road. This includes grass verges and pavements.0 -
If you check the website of the electricity company who supplied your property before privatisation then you should find something there about wayleaves. They will be responsible for maintaining the electricity supply lines into your house.
I contacted Scottish Power who bought out Manweb who were our regional elecy board when I moved house some years ago. We have 2 elecy poles in our garden & now get £12 a year wayleave from them.Ethical moneysaver0
