Tax Credits

Has anyone else had a letter from tax credits saying there will be an extra payment this month, then reduced payments until April? Any idea why? I'm so terrible with money, I'll have to put the extra into my new savings account so I don't spend it and get into trouble in the next few months!

Yes it's something to do with changing their systems over. Bound to go wrong knowing TC's! Good idea about moving the money to where you can't spend it and then 'paying yourself back'. I would suggest keeping an eye on what extra they pay you and make sure they re-adjust it accordingly.

That's a good point, I always just assume what they pay me is correct! I've just checked my online banking and I'll be £64 per month short for the next 4 months, which is a lot for me. Have put the money away, just hope I can 'forget' about it!0
