For anyone thinking of opening a new account, I have a CCJ and several old outstanding debts. Applied online for a Citibank account and received confirmation that subject to me signing and returning the enclosed document i should receive my new Debit card etc within 7 days. Seems they are still ok if you have adverse credit.

Make sure you check the Terms of their account, particularly OD charges. I would suggest you have your wages paid into another bank.0

It's good to know there are bank account options for people with debts etc, but do be careful regarding the level of charges, particularly with reading the small print. If you've nothing decent to say, perhaps you shouldn't say anything.

1. Citigold is available for no relationship fee if you: credit your Citigold current account with at least £5,000 per month and have a minimum of 2 Direct Debits paid from your account each month; or maintain a minimum average monthly balance of £50,000 (or currency equivalent) across your current and savings accounts with Citibank International plc; or hold an investment of at least £25,000 with us or have an account with Citibank International Personal Bank in London or Jersey. If you do not meet one of these criteria, a monthly relationship fee of just £25 will apply. 2. To be eligible for a £500 interest and fee-free overdraft you must credit your Citi current account with a minimum of £1,250 per month. If you do not pay the minimum amount in any month, the £500 overdraft facility will be removed and we will charge interest on any overdrawn balance at the unarranged overdraft rate unless the account is funded within six weeks of Citi notifying you that the minimum credit has not been met. Overdrafts over £500 are available upon request and interest will be charged at the current rate of interest detailed in the Interest Rates and Charges Information . If you request an overdraft of more than £500, we will advise you of the minimum amount you must credit your account with each month to retain your overdraft facility. Overdrafts are subject to status, additional verification and checks. Overdrafts are repayable on demand and are subject to Terms and Conditions.
3. A charge of 2% (minimum £2, maximum £5) is applied to all ATM cash withdrawals made using your Citibank Card, in a currency other than Sterling, from a Sterling Account.
This charge will be applied to the Sterling amount debited from your account, after the amount of the foreign currency transaction has been converted using our reference exchange rate (the reference exchange rate is Visa’s exchange rate on the date it processes the transaction, plus a percentage commission which we set).
Please remember that this charge will not apply if you use a Citi ATM or a LINK ATM, nor will it apply to withdrawals from Citi foreign currency accounts where the withdrawal is made in the currency of the account.
Information correct as at 28th July 2010 and is subject to change.
4. If the account is interest bearing.0 -
I opened a Citibank Access Account, i understand they have no charges, correct me if i am wrong? I chose not to have an overdraft, although i am guessing it would have been declined anyway. Can anyone confirm if ATM withdrawals are free from any ATM or just LINK?
Thanks
