Heathrow - Cheap things to do/Places to eat
Options
Hiya,
I will be in London on Friday March 4th from 2pm(ish) until Monday March 7th (3pmish) We (2 adults) are staying at Heathrow Central and have breakfast booked in advance so that leaves the rest of the meals etc to find locally. Any ideas on where is reasonably priced & enjoyable to eat in this area. Also we are looking for things to do within a reasonable budget?
Saturday has been prearranged already, so we are looking mainly for Friday night, all day Sunday and Monday. Our budget is about £250 - £300.
We have never been to London before so advice on getting around etc is also appreciated. We proberlly wont be taking the car so it will be public transport only.
Thanks

Yes you can get on the tube at Hatton cross or any of the Heathrow options:
Within you can be at Hyde park corner: hyde park of course
Knightsbridge-harrods, shopping and the kings road ( just to nosey of course)
At South Kensington there is the Victoria and Albert, the science museum and the natural history museum.
These should take 30-40 mins ish each way.
Obviously you can go into London ( an extra 20-30 muins lets say) and see all it offers , covent garden, borough market, shopping, theatre, galleries, museums, whatever you wanted

We've stayed at the Heathrow Central Travelodge a few times, not sure from your post if that's where you're staying. There is a pub close by, the Jolly Waggoner, which was nice enough to eat in and reasonably priced. From Starrystarrynight to Starrystarrynight1 and now I'm back...don't have a clue how!0

Hi. Assuming you are coming from central London, the easiest way to get to Heathrow Central Travelodge is to get the Piccadilly Line to Hounslow West, cross over the road outside the station, and catch the 222 bus (it stops right outside the hotel).
The Jolly Wagoner, within walking distance, is a perfectly adequate pub. There is also a small Portuguese restaurant in the parade of shops between the Travelodge and the pub (the name of which escapes me). It is not a sophisticated place, catering mainly for the local Portuguese community, but the food is excellent. Expect TVs playng Portuguese news or football programmes, tables with checked vinyl tablecloth, and absolutely first class Portuguese fish and meat dishes (plus plenty of vinho verde) for not many pounds. Many of the locals lik to go in to labour over a coffee or beer fo a couple of hours along with some bread and pate. Main dishes are generous - so don't over-order. Highly recommended.0 -
I think the 222 bus goes along Bath Road and goes to Uxbridge. Uxbridge has pubs, restaurants, cafes, shops and a cinema.

A nice cheap cafe with good food is Popiandys (it is in The Mall (Pavillions) go in the entrance to The Mall near Tesco and it's on the right hand side by the card shop/oppsite a hairdressers).
A lovely bistro with a quirky owner is 'Martin's Place' on Windsor Street - it's a very small bistro and not expensive. It's the only restaurant I know where you can get pancakes for dessert :-) The place only holds about 20 people so either pick the right time to go or phone and book. See link for reviews and contact details.

There's a Wetherspoons pub on the High Street called the Good Yarn - cheap food (222 bus stop is opposite it), a Slug and Lettuce pub and Nandos near Debenhams. There are lots of other restaurants including Pizza Express, Ask, Pizza Hut, Macdonalds (3 branches), ...
The cinema (Odeon) is in The Chimes shopping centre.
There's a nice pub by the canal (on Oxford Road, about 10 mins walk from the High Street) called The Swan and Bottle. Nice view and decor - they do meals but food is expensive.

Uxbridge also has the tube (Metropolitan and Piccadilly lines) so you can explore further if needs be.0
