When I had my house re-wired and plastered in 2008 there was just me, colin a friend fitted my fire and the rest was done by a joiner decorator and carpets fitted and lino done, rest of work was done by me and I was depressed with it too. Only that I was on my own doing it. Its surprising how much money you spend too. £2k for electrics that were not finished only the light fittings not screwed into ceilings and I cant reach them now. Kitchen not finished all plumbing to boiler is not boxed in. Its going to be like that forever as I cant afford to do it now.
Even the painting not finished cause I cant reach.
I could not believe how much plaster dust I had.
Thankfully it was all cosy for christmas that year, but I still have things unfinished such as stair edges have gaps between walls and my daughters bedroom has a ten year old plastic sliding door falling to bits. Its narrow than a normal door so no wooden doors can be fitted to it.
Glad to see all your friends on here helped you with the build too.

Thanks for the message. Getting building work done sounds great until you do it. There are good builders, but they tend to have some irritating traits! I think I shall use the BBC for future projects, they're not bad...

We saw that the other night...I think it's the best one they've done.
It was nice to see someone who deserves a break, getting one :j.
I hope him and his family have many happy memories in their new home

Hi
I thought it was edited brilliantly and quite a few people have said they thought it was one of the better ones - including my mum. I think that's partly because it was the smallest, most derelict, damp, cramped, and generally-crap little house they've worked on, and yet looks better now than even they normally manage. Also they had a shedload of professionals and volunteers around as a willing workforce. A great bonding experience for the whole area of the town actually. I don't know as I was staying in Horsham for the nine days they were there!
Thanks for your lovely remarks.

Wow! Thank you!
Feeling a bit vulnerable after exposing my problems over the past few years, health and financial record, plus details of my sons, and interior shots of my house to 8 million people!

Mike, 8 million is not too many really...We watched it as well and both thought it was great - it was clear that cooperation is very powerful force. And your boys are really great!
Enjoy your house - it sure is lovely; and the kitchen...is heaven.

This made me cry it was an amazing job done by a brilliant team.
Mike - I hope you had a lovely christmas in your new home with your boys.0 -
Hi Mike, we've 'met' briefly on the Matrix thread.
After hearing on the thread about the programme, then spending ages catching up on your original thread (and then watching the programme).
I'd just like to say I am totally humbled (I spend too much time complaining about my insignificant problems).
You must have been to hell and back over the past few years and I will try never to moan again about petty little things. You came across as a lovely guy with 2 fantastic kids and I really cannot think of anyone who deserved this more.
I hope things have levelled out for you now and that you have a little more in the way of peace of mind.
The internet is a powerful force for good sometimes and I'm so pleased that things panned out for you and your boys.
All power to 'Mike's Mob' too.
AM very, very pleased for you and just wanted to add my bit.
Good on you mate xX0 -

No, you're right! Eight million's nothing!
Again with the kitchen! Always the kitchen!

Hi again
I think everyone's problems are serious. Nothing special about us. Just very lucky for once and very grateful.
Things have settled a lot but still trying to get back into working and paying some bills as soon as possible.
