Asked in interview about plans for a baby etc

I am Mrs Dehydrato btw!
I had an interview recently for a part time job doing admin. During the interview I was asked if I planned to have any more children, where my daughter went to nursery and have I asked the nursery if they could take her every day. I thought it was so out of order as my family life has no relation to my ability to do the job they are recruiting for. I was polite (or stupid) and answered but on reflection I feel very uncomfortable with it.
Anyway, I have now recieved an email saying she had missed out a couple of questions during the interview, could I reply. They are, can I work alternative times to cover holidays etc and if so, have I got adequate childcare arrangements. The second one is, if my daughter is poorly and cannot go to nursery, where would she go, do I have anyone to look after her?
I am going to tel them to shove their job, I only wanted a little job to get out a bit but clearly the fact I have a daughter has a bearing on my suitability in their eyes which I strongly disagree with.
Can anyone advise on the actual laws about this type of question before I reply? I would like to poit out to them the reasons they cannot be so intrusive.
Thanks

erm wait till they reject your application and then claim discrimination at an employment tribunal lol0

i got asked a similar question on a phone interview, they asked childrens ages and who would be looking after them and do i have back up childcare.
i didnt get the job0 -
They have totally wound me up, I am a professional person with a fantastic career behind me and they are questioning my ability to do some filing etc. Not impressed. I do want to replysaying I am withdrawing my application based on their lack of HR knowledge but to back it up I would like to provide exact examples of law showing what they have done is wrong, anyone know where I can find this?0

NO no no!!!
Don't do this!
They must be insane to put this in writing! You could have a field day. If you wanted to!If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -
Well not to be too cocky but I have never not been offered a job I have gone for, the only reason I can think of for not getting it would be if I said that I couldn't make childcare provison.
Sambucas Nigra - what do you mean? WHat do you think would happen? I do feel like pushing this, I am very angry, not for me really coz I don't need a job but what if I was a single parent with no support at all and needed the job, they would basically force me to lie.0 -
Play along then take them to court for discrimination. Even if you don't take them to court you can scare the living daylights out of them.If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0

All these questions are a no no, you would not have applied for the job if you didn't already have it covered, how is none of their business.0

If you didnt get the job then you would have a serious chnace at an employment tribunal. I would imagine the employer would be advised to settle before it got even close to a tribunal given the information you have stated above. Really stupid employers!0

Well to be honest, you make me angry. You want a job because you are bored? Well why not leave it for someone who needs it?
From a legal point of view, what they have done would not look good at an ET. If you were rejected for the job you could easily take them to an ET for discrimination & would easily win on the information you have provided. They certainly need to update their recruitment process.
Are they a small company? Or a large national type company?0
