  • We have a One Account for the last 3 years and love it! In the first 2 years we paid off £11000 worth (and that's inc having a baby, maternity leave etc and we're not the best paid people in the world). We then moved to a bigger house, and this process couldn't have gone any smoother. Now doubled the mortgage (not as bad as it sounds!) and still going the right way, although my bf has just gone self employed so money a bit up in the air.

Can't fault the customer services, are there 24/7, always answer within a short time, are based in Norwich and do what they say they are going to do and sometimes more. The initial switch went well, the move went well, and every facility increase we have requested has been fine.

Def agree with people saying you have to be disciplined, in effect you have an overdraft of a few grand so could be tempting. We look at it the same as phead, trying to get the huge negative balance as low as poss.

There may well be conventional mortgages that work out similar, but I like it all being in the same place working together in a way that is very easy to keep an eye on.

If they are still doing the recommend a friend for £125 scheme please let me know if you are interested!!

  • I can definately recommend the One Account. Took ours out in 2000 and haven't looked back at all. Now I just use it as a central place to funnel everything through and hive saving off to the best rates available. Have recommended the One account to loads of friends who have switched.

Yep - it's not for everyone as you have to be disciplined as you could just go and blow a load of cash whenever you want - but seeing how the big red number goes down each month really focuses you to paying it off - and then you can start to enjoy ALL of the money that you work your !!!! off for.
