New black leather gloves leaving black smudges on face

Options
My husband bought some new black leather gloves from M&S today. I noticed that he had a black nose after a while and basically these new gloves were the culprit. I tried them against the skin on my arms etc, and no colour leak, but when I rubbed them against my face, the colour leaked again and left black smudges on my face. I can only think that it is due to the particular oils on the face that is reacting with the leather.

Is there anything to stop this, or do we just need to get a refund from the shop? Will be naffed off if we do as we have just set ourselves the goal to avoid the town centre for the whole of 2011:mad:

Don't rub your face when wearing the gloves - that should stop it! :)
If I'm over the hill, where was the top?

:rotfl: I was going to say that!!

It should stop in time anyway as they wear in... I don't think its worth returning them just for that, personally.
  • The thumb on my m and s leather gloves is extremely long making them unwearable so they'll be going back. Standards are slipping!
