I have been having trouble getting a proper bank account for myself what with credit checks and all that, and then I remembered that someone here might've found a solution so I went exploring.

This thread has to be the best I have read, found it an hour ago, went to Barclays 45 minutes ago and am now sitting with a proper bank account 30 minutes later :)

    Well done!
    Things have certainly changed since i first moved to this country early 2006 - I'm pretty sure such options weren't available then.
    You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.

    Just an update, got my VISA debit card this morning, which is essential for Paypal and my potential business that has been dragging along for a year :D

    Another update to anyone wanting to get one of these, to prove it works :)

    Just entered my details into paypal last week, they placed a couple of small credits into my bank account to verify it and a day or two later I was able to fully verify my bank account.

    This is wonderful because now I have been able to buy something from a domain registrar without having to pay overseas transaction charges!!

    Barclays basic visa debit account is wonderful!!! :D
