Internet order to Greece, not arrived after 5 wks-have i any rights to refund?

Options
hi,
Do i have any rights at all?
I purchased a pram/ travel system and a few smaller items from a small "one man band" retailer online on the 13th November.
I wanted the items to be sent to Greece, an extra shipping cost of over £100.
I paid via VISA DEBIT card as i do not own a credit card as no longer resident in UK.
I also asked that shipping be delayed till 1st Dec (or thereabouts).
I obviously wanted tracking details etc, all agreed on with retailer via email and phone.
I was contacted on the 29th Nov to inform me that some of the smaller items were now no longer available but they could make up the order with similar and now would send off the entire delivery.

Of course in the mean time the UK has had most awful weather conditions

Now after many emails that have not been returned i am still waiting for tracking details and the order itself.
The phone number is no longer working as they are "relocating" the store over the Christmas period and are not open till 4th January (3 days post my date to give birth!).
I have emailed both through the website and the email address used in previous correspondance.

I am extremely concerned that the company has disappeared (although the website is still live) with my money.
Or am i being a little too anxious and the items may have been caught up in the weather and Christmas backlog.

Any ideas on how to sort this out/ or get refunded?

Many hopeful thanks in advance

You can do a chargeback for Visa Debit cards so you wouldn't loose your money. But it does sound a bit dodgy.

What's the name of the website?
  • nappies-direct is the name of the website/ company.

i hope that it is the UK weather/ Xmas...
but i will look into a chargeback from my bank- being a virgin at that how do i go about doing this, is it a case of contacting my bank?
Would you suggest maybe leaving it a little longer post New Year, or should i just get on with it and stop being such a trusting individual???

    Thanks to those who replied!

You have to wait so long before you can do a chargeback. You contact the bank that issued the Visa Debit card and they will give you a form to fill, in which you send back giving all the details and paperwork.

I am still waiting for some mail that was sent from the U.S. early December that hasn't arrived yet, and a letter from Europe posted early December only arrived today.

The website domain name is registered in the U.K. to a limited company so at least you are not dealing with someone in China etc. so have better chance of finding information.
  • Would you believe it that today the items all arrived!
I must admit i was surprised, but obviously the weather and Xmas was the cause of the delay.... although this excuse could not be used for their lack of response to emails or phone calls!
Anyway, bottom line all goods are safely with me

@JAG, I hope that you also have a similar ending to your current problem...i thnk its the not knowing who to trust in the current climate that concerned me enough to warrent posting on the forum. Best of luck to solve your issue.

Thank you for your time spent on replying/ information hunting etc...
Happy New year to you JAG :-)

I don't think there is a time limit before you make the request, but there is a time limit to make it in;-
Chargeback;- "then you should contact the bank who has provided you with your Visa debit card within 120 days, requesting they initiate the chargeback process"
