Morning Everyone
Just wondering if anyone could help, Ive been working at my current workplace for just over a year and two months ago I was offered a new role. I was told it would probably get me a bit more money, but the figures and contracts we're to be drawn up. I verbally accepted as long as it was more money.
Within two days, they had arranged interviews for that week, They got my replacement. I had to train them up and start my new role. I made my point clkear that I wasn't happy but this went un-noticed.
So I'm now working for the same company in one of their other companies. BUT!
As another member of staff is off on Maternity Leave, they have "TOLD" me that I am doing most of her jobs for her line manager. (without extra pay!!). I asked what if i point blank refuse, and I cant, becasue the Managing Director has said I am to do it.
Whats worse is that I HATE her line manager, he's got such a bad attitude. I'm already dreading going back to work on the 4th
I want to request a meeting with the Managing Director and discuss it, but is this the right thing to do? The company has been known to be a bit awkward.
Any help would me great. Thanks

You need to set up a meeting with your manager and officially request a new contract for your new position and ask for backpay for what you have done so far. As long as you are completely professional and point out what your expectations were prior to taking on the new role, then they cannot be in the dark. I suggest putting all of this in writing as well.
I was in a similar postion once as well. I was promised a new role which never materialised. I left...0 -
