I completed Friday in buying my ex partner out of our former home. It has been a long drawn out process. Basically I moved out and a month later he moved in his new wife to be. This was 19 months ago. Being the nasty piece of work his is he has only just agreed for me to buy him out (50% of full market value ) so I can keep the kids in their home. we were not married so I had little protection.
Anyway as I am a mug I have said he can store his belongings in the back room until he completes on his purchase, this week. He has however been delayed ( due to his useless negotiation). I have told him he MUST remove them by 10th November. His belongings take up a whole room 17 x 17 , another room 12x 10, his fridge and washing machine is in the kitchen ,and the garden is full up with his garden stuff.
He is squeeky tight, never throws anything away, hence the "smelly " stuff he has left and is not using removal men - just friends to save a buck. He is getting a massive inheritance next month apparently and I just want him out. I am not living there at present as have to come back to this house to work till 16th November. He has just rang me because he saw two crappy pots in the skip so he went into MY garden to check out if I had thrown anything else away.
Its 20 months since we split. I am sick to death of him. What would you do regarding the property.
I think either
a) place it carefully on the drive and tell him to pick it up on the last day 10th NOvember
b) Arrange for removal men to take the lot and tell him to pay the bill and he can get his stuff.
I just cannot move on till he is out of my hair. Not sure if this was the right board but thinking property etc ???

I would put his belongings out in the front of his house, tell him before hand so he knows.
And if he doesnt come then, put it in black bags by the bin.
Just in case consult a solicitor but as long as you have told him that should be fine.
God good luck to you, sounds like a nightmare, bxxxx0 -
You have my sympathy! I personally like option a, although I would send him a recorded delivery letter reminding him of the date you had already given him.
you probably couldn't get him to pay for b!
Have you got beefy friends/family who can help move the bulkier items out of the house? And you have changed the locks?
Good luck0 -
Thanks so much - worried as I am professionally qualified and don't want toget into trouble. The stress of the last 20 months is just building up and I can smell Freedom ! The huge volume of his belongings would cost an absolute fortune to store.
He has also got me into big debt, and I will be posting a SOA over on the other board soon because I need to keep track of my lifestyle now.Stuck on the carousel in Disneyland's Fantasyland
