My DMP was with CCCS - shall I ask them for help with the BR or do it myself?
December and january payments were frozen as I informed CCCS that I am out of work but I need to try and make the BR application early January before the creditors start harassing me again.
Where do I start the procedure please?
I have no "assets" as such, my flat is rented from the council, I have no car, no expensive new gadgets at home, no savings - is it going to be fairly straighforward?
How do I find out which court deals with BR applications for my area?
Thanks again.0 -

You will need to take advice from someone, be it CCCS, http://www.nationaldebtline.co.uk/ or the CAB....you'll be asked at court if you've taken advice and may (will?) be refused bankruptcy if you haven't.
That has to be the start of the procedure.“Procrastination is my middle name....well it would be if I could be ar**d to contact Deed Poll."0 -

you can. They have a specialist br support team.
They may be of more use than the advisor you've already dealt with.

get the forms from the court, or dl them from the links here: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/1056083

should be, assuming you haven't done anything reckless.

You can make token payments to your debt whilst you are unemployed until you get back into employment - you don't HAVE to go bankrupt and when you are back in employment your situation will be reassessed. Bankruptcy may or may not be the best option but take advice on it. Also check how it will affect your employment situation - you earnt a fair bit previously so I am guessing that you may work in accounting/law or in a senior position in a company which you may not be able to do if bankrupt - please check with your trade union/professinal body/hr department of previous company to get an idea whether this will pose you any problems.
Best of Luck

Thanks BR would not be affecting my employement prospects, I work in IT not in legal/banking... Well, used to work I should say.
Do not want to go into token payments etc, been on DMP for long time and debts never reduced despite payments of £570 per month as most creditors were still adding interest, very draining, I guess right now I just want out of all this and do not see any other way than BR. Anything else would be just prolonging the whole process of never ending repayments that achieve nothing at all as debts did not get reduced...0 -
Did you get a lump sum when you took voluntary redundancy?0

themull1 - good point, yes I did.

That might be a bit tricky. If you go br you'll need to prove that you didn't favour one creditor over another.0 -
Those were personal loans from friends/family that I have paid off....not the ones I had on DMP...
Bad move?0
