So how's everyone doing in the world of eBay? I added a few items today for 3 days on a collect only basis. I have made over £1k this month but with only 5 weeks to go, I have a lot of house to clear. Do you think eBay will have a free listing day on Boxing Day?Mortgage start September 2015 £90000 MFiT #060

Hi Floxxie
Wow that is a good sum of money. I don't really sell anymore don't have anything worth selling and anything I do list never sells anyway. Ebay is not as good as it used to be.

Completely agree TMD. I love the idea of eBay but hate their fees and except for the few listings today, I only list on free listing days.
I seem to be listing loads, then spending time answering questions and then not selling  However, it gives me a place that I can try and sell my belongings and I much prefer doing it from the comfort of my home rather than doing a car bootMortgage start September 2015 £90000 MFiT #060 -
I haven't tried ebay since the summer but have done ok with furniture/other to collect stuff on Gumtree recently. Made £101 on that in November.Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000

Hi,
I have not used ebay in such a long time, but have sold a lot on amazon recently. However there are a number of things I have that I cannot sell on amazon (eg. hand creams/fake eyelashes) and was thinking of looking back to ebay. Are things selling like they used to on it? Do you peeps think the hassle is worthwhile? What sort of things tend to sell well?
Thanks, LisaSave 12k in 2014 (my target: £10 000):

A combination of eBay's extortionate fees and Royal Mail having royally screwed up with their insane price adjustments mean eBay is now far more geared to its shops and professional listers. I don't know how so many sellers manage to offer free postage, if I pay the postage myself for low value items I'm worse off! Am I missing a trick?0

I've only ever listed books on Amazon but the postage price is fixed by them, and with a dozen or more other sellers offering the same book with a £0.01 start price, nobody's going to buy from me without an impressive stack of positive reviews. I haven't tried Gumtree, someone I know put all her horse's stuff on Facebook and seemed to get a lot of interest in the comments, don't know how much actually sold in the end.
It has made me stop buying anything unless I'm sure I want to keep it forever!0 -
I've sold clothes on some facebook selling groups successfully and will do more of that in the new year.
I like your last comment twiglet98, yes it's hard to know how easily you'll be able to sell things on now.Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000

I have managed to get reasonable money for text books, dvds and a few other things on Amazon. Novels tend not to go so well. I am beginning to wonder if perhaps it might be a good idea to gather some stuff up and do a car boat sale instead with some of the other stuff??Save 12k in 2014 (my target: £10 000):
