Hey Everyone (and welcome newbies too
)...I just came across a fantastic blog/website that I thought I should share. It's been very inspirational for me over the last few days as I've gone through all of the 'Start Here' postings as well as many in the archives. It's a blog about becoming a rational minimalist (ie. as opposed to a minimalist, here, you choose where you need to cut down/back).
My biggest issue is clutter right now and while it's fantastic to earn money through ebay, sometimes I just wish that everything would just disappear. This blog has helped me see that if I don't want to ebay it I can just give it away - to charity, a friend, a dump... (I know it should have been obvious, but I grew up with very little which is no doubt why I struggle to get rid of things that seem to still have value.) This is one of the few sites where the comments are actually worth a read too!
In the last 3 days I've reorganized my 2 dressers and small closet (with 3 garbage bags of stuff going to charity) I can now breathe when I look in there and find the things I need rather than getting a visceral negative stressful reaction. Next comes my totally overstuffed closet with clothes that still have tags. I'll look to sell those in the upcoming month on ebay but many others will just go to charity.
I just sent a note to my new neighbor upstairs who is 6mos pregnant to see if she's at all interested in coming over to help herself to the baby things I still have. (While it's nice to know you're helping a charity by dropping things off, I find it's even nicer to help someone you know.)
Here are two of my favourite articles. Hope some of you enjoy and find them and the site useful.
