Hello there

Here's my comments...milly_rhys wrote:looking at my buget from CAB so i think its done pro rata

child benefit £75.61
dla(sons) £269.75
dla mine £188.28
total 1480.95 (seems alot whne u look at it like that ) You do need to look at it like that as that is how much you have at your disposal
rent arrears +water £100
c.tax £10
gas £60 This is high, have yo checked whether you are on the cheapest provider?
electric£60 This is high, have yo checked whether you are on the cheapest provider?
houskeeping £400 (two special diets) What type of diets and for how many people? This is very high.
insurance £25 What is this for? If it's home, you can get it cheaper and can change through the year.
tv licence £12
tv rental £40 Would be best to buy a tv and stop this.
petrol £80 (lots of hospital visits)
car rental £188.28
telephone and broadband £60 This is very high, you could reduce this substantially by chancing providers. Tesco doo BB for £15 I think
sons child care £160 term time £280 holidays (per month not pro rata) How does this work?
weight watchers £40 per month (can not stop going ) For how many people? I thought it was £4.95 per week per person
Total: £1236
Income - bills = £1480.95 - £1236 = £244.85 for debt repayments
hubbys visa £10 a month
hubbys loan £80 a month
cab put £25 for incidentals and increased outgoings a little to cover me to pay off parents
debt i have is approx What is the APR, minimum payments and limits on these?

It seems that you have £244 to pay off your debts with. If you post the APRs and minimum payments, we can help you decide in which order to do so. You can achieve quite significant savings in your utilities etc so that will give you even more to throw at the debts

Can you not claim back expenses for hospital visits if on benefits, or is that just for public transport?
Would that be an option?0 -

You're gas and electric seem quite high.. have you tried uswitch.co.uk to see if you can get a cheaper deal?
Tv rental - would you be better just cancelling it and buying a cheap tv from argos or somewhere for the meantime?
Do you NEED the car? A lot of your outgoings are on that and like others have said, surely you should get some help to hospital appointments as you're on benefits?
Also you phone and broadband costs are extortionate compared to the deals out at the moment so I would seriously consider switching. We pay £30 p/m for 8mg with bt total broadband and I know there are cheaper deals than that!
Have you tried shopping around for your food? Even though you have 2 special diets I struggle to deny that you could at least bring it down slightly by shopping around. Don't forget places like tesco etc do free delivery if you spend over a certain amount and the value ranges are just as good as the brand names.
Also how on earth is your weight watchers £40 a month??? Couldn't you just tell them that you simply can't afford to go anymore? There must be some way out of it as £40 a month is a lot of money!!Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043
Que sera, sera.

Also have you got any friends or family that could help you with childcare, and are you claiming the childcare element of the tax credits?Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

milly_rhys wrote:well the cab have just advised £1 payments and some have accepted others have not . is that right? The £1 payments are a temporary solution until you go on a DMP or other solution. Can't say whether it is right or wrong as the CAB will have a more comprehensive picture of your finances than we do here.

This one is relevant http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cgi-bin/viewnews.cgi?newsid1103281560,22751,

my food amount is high for my special diet and my sons and mine my hubby is on low fat diet too . what is your reccomended amount for the things u said could be changed If you check out the Old Style Board, it will help you get a few ideas on menus and recipes for low fat as well as cheaper meals. I understnad £50 per month per person is a good amount to aim for.
weight watchers is for two people so it is £40 per month less 40p Fair enough, hope you are both doing well! :T
