welcome Ilona!
I'll get my megaphone ready to yell in your ears (nicely, of course...) when you overspend!0 -
Thanks PP
I need to return a jar of marmite that had a huge gap where the lid should screw on
I shan't replace it as I'd planned. Instead I'll get refund and buy a branded product and try that. Fingers crossed, cos I too love my marmite and nought but 'best will do:D0 -
Quick update
£5 spend in Mr T yesterday - got some reduced Finest Lamb Shanks, instead of going out for a meal. It was cheaper since there are still a few bottles of wine leftover from Xmas and I had one of those instead of drinks out
And £1.79 in Mr S today.
Updated signature. Didn't do the stew on Saturday because I forgot to take the beef out of the freezer so I'm doing that tonightGrocery Challenge Jan 24 0/300

Just done an online shop with MrTs for the rest of the month, obviously its only a rough total til it arrives but it leaves me with around another £40 left in my budget..im amazed! If I can stick to that (and I should be able to, we wont really need anything other than milk I dont think) then I will have saved about £250ish from what we would usually spend on groceries in a month!January grocery challenge- £338.09/£350

I have been buying those fruit bars which are one of your five a day, planet lunchbox I think they are called, they do smoothies and all sorts, but they are so expensive! He loves them, and I know he will eat them, where as if I put an apple in there he will have a bite and thatll be it. He usually has a sandwich and some cucumber/pepper/cheese or something, with maybe a mini breadsticks too, and a yogurt if I have any and one of those fruit bars or smoothies instead of fruit...what do your kids have in their lunchboxes?
I was watching a programme that said that most of those bars which claim to have 'fruit' or 1 of your 5 a day has so many additives and sugars that it worse then a chocolate bar!
I've seen so many which are BRIGHT GREEN, how is that natural?
I have a fear of anything like that...!
My son gets:
A sandwich (Pate or Cheese)
A piece of fruit (pealed orange today)
A choob yogurt
A HM Scone (Sometimes HM Cheese Straws or HM Rock Cakes or even HM Biscuits)
and juice (ACE Orange and carrot Juice, 200ml = 1 of your 5 a day)!
If he doesn't eat his fruit at school he has to eat it after dinner with his Banana, and get's no 'other' dessert. So he eats his fruit knowing that he'll be penalised if he doesn't.
So that's 3 portions, plus I add 2-3 veg with or inside dinner!
I also buy the fruit depending on offers, and he hates most of it, but eats it anyway!
He does like carrots and Cucumber, so sometimes he get's that instead of fruit!
When he spends a week at his dad's I do notice a sudden drop in the cost of groceries... so I do sympathise! We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy! Mortgage Free Wannabe :dance:Overpayments Made: £5400 - Interest Saved: £11,550 - Months Saved: 240 -

£2.50 on herbs/spices (the onion powder/granules are hiding from me so need to visit mr t's to see if they have any)

£7.00 in he*ons which included 3 tins of chopped toms (got home to find i have 3 in cupboard already) and cat food.
£14.00 in nett* (needed to buy a bag aswell ) got the yogurt needed for my curry and some cereal but £7.20 of this was spent on pear koppaberg cider got 6 bottles for £1.20 per bottle:D which is great as they are so expensive in the other supermarkets. So will say £7.00 in nett* making a total of £32.50 today.
I have £35.00 left in my shopping purse and need some lamb mince, onion powder, oil and a coconut block?? (not sure what this is but i need it :rotfl::rotfl:) so i should come in under budget as my new week starts on weds.0
