I need some arrowroot powder for a recipe but couldn't find it anywhere in the supermarket.. I'm not actually sure what it is! I'm guessing its a herb or spice and I have a cupboard full of these, so any ideas for a suitable substitue?
thanks!

its a thickening agent, rather like cornflour, but if you have a sauce that you want to keep clear then arrowroot is the best one to use, as cornflour will make it go cloudy. best place to get it from: a local chemist! in the meantime, suitable replacement, if you don't mind the cloudiness: cornflour.
hope that helps...
