Leigh Lancashire still not reduced either:(
  • Don't get the mini quiches - they were the most tasteless things ever - totally bland and could not tell any difference between the two flavours!

That was certainly a battle and a half.

SELs showed £1 each with 5 for 4. Self Service assistant confirmed scanning at £1. Someone she called confirmed that the website prices only apply to online orders and not instore (really).

Off to the car to check with OH and look online. Back to CS armed with iPhone showing online pricing at 50p. Helpful & sympathetic assistant called grumpy supervisor who was at pains to explain how the online pricing is completely different to the store pricing and they can't do anything about it.

Slightly heated discussion follows where we establish that if I go home and order them from the same store online, they will charge me 50p and not £1 and deliver. She failed to see the irony in that. I pointed out that other stores were charging 50p to which she firmly explained that the pricing varies from store to store (and the internet it seems - wow, so many pricing structures to keep on top of!).

She then made the fatal mistake of saying that she didn't understand the internet so I asked for a manager that did.

Manager couldn't have been more helpful.. Immediately phoned the chap in charge of updating pricing an demanded to know why they hadn't been reduced and told him that the website said they were 50p, so why were we still charging £1. She then said that I could have as many as I wanted at 50p and arranged with a checkout operator to charge me 50p. Seems like they don't have that many pricing structures after all.

By the time I walked to the freezer section (30 seconds) there was already a chap there repricing and by the time I got to the checkout, the system had already been updated.

    Excellent recovery.

Total time in store 1hr. Amount saved £30. Happy Wifey :)
