Free Amazon returns?

I ordered a book for my Mum and a DVD for my sister but it turns out they both already have them. However, Amazon (by using it's drop-down box) say that it's not their fault, so I will have to pay to return it (£2.75). However, if I select 'unsuitable or not fit for purpose' then they will pay for the return. I don't want to do anything illegal, but is their policy right? What would you do? ;)

It's irrelevant really because they are in charge of what they refund you, and if it's not faulty then they will deduct the £2.75 from your refund.

You can chose not to use their pre-paid return label and pay postage yourself, which might be cheaper than £2.75.

Its there policy and as long as they give free returns for faulty items it isn't there fault your parents already had it. However, unsuitable covers a large range of reasons and I'd give it a try. On last weeks e-mail from Martin there was a guide to your rights when returning items why not have a look where you stand because the rules are different when you order online to buy in the shops.
