Do I have to pay VAT in uk if I live in Gibraltar?

Hi all,
I live in Gibraltar, Im getting married in Uk in summer, people have told me that I dont need to pay VAT on the Wedding reception etc, as I live in Gib and that its where u live that determines if u need to pay VAT or not? Is this true and how would I go about it???

Services consumed in the UK attract VAT.
Goods to take abroad may not.

Place of supply of services is where the customer is based.....but only when the customer is another VAT registered business.

Place of supply of services where the customer is an indiviudal member of the public, switches the place of supply to where the supplier is based, which is the UK and thus subject to UK VAT.

Even if you managed to put the cost of the wedding through a business, there is a special condition where the service also includes the supply of a room/marquee which forces the place of supply to be where the rental takes pace, which would be the UK also.

So no matter where you are in the world or whether you're a business or not, VAT will apply to the wedding in the UK.
