Removal of old sofa

Options
Hi. Are there any retailers that will take away your old sofa bed if you purchase a new one from them? I know several retailers do this with TVs and large appliances but what about furniture? Failing that, what are my options to have my old sofa removed? I live in London, paying a fee is OK but not extortionate. I have looked into donating it but charities won't touch it as the sofa bed doesn't have the fire safety tag anymore. Thanks everyone!

  • Or contact your local radio station, see if they have any links with anyone who picks up furniture for people who cannot afford their own.

If you just want it disposed of one option is to contact your local council, they will probably have a bulky goods waste collection service. Ours took away our old bed and mattress for about £10, and said this all counted as one item so would have taken another item at the same time as well included in the price.
  • I'd try listing it on ebay with a 99p start. you'd be surprised!!

If it is still useful, you can always donate it to your local furniture project, usually run by your local council
    Growing old disgracefully!
  • Yes, your local council is easy - but sometimes they have a 14day "booking" period (like Tower Hamlets do)

    Freecycle is a gem.

Both of these can be sorted out online.
