Can anyone help. I did the tax calculation and sent of my new address details to the tax office via the link on this site, I then got an email back saying i was owed a couple of thousand in tax that i had over paid. The email contained a form to download and fill in. I am worried about the form as it is asking for really personal info such as my atm number and online banking password.
Has anyone had the same download as me and did anyone send it. I clearly dont trust it even though the email says its from the tax office and will be ringing them when the reopen after the bank holiday. Just want to know if anyone has got any tax back after sending this form.
Thanks

Thanks

HMRC don't do e-mails.0

Fishy. (And indeed phishy!)
HMRC do not notify of tax refunds by e-mail.0 -
Definately a phishing scam because:
1. They won't ask for your banking passwords
2. They won't notify you by email
3. They are closed for Christmas and they don't relpy this quickly anyway.0 -
Pure co-incidence unfortunately, I do hope you just deleted it.
Calll HMRC tomorrow and they'll sort any refund out for you (so long as all the info's on the system)0 -
If you gave any banking details in the e-mail, then please also contact your bank straight away. HMRC will never ask for bank details and do not do any business via e-mail. They are not allowed to e-mail taxpayer details internally as e-mail is not safe.0
