Geeking it out over my new iPad - I found an app!
Its called 'Expense Tracker - SpendingLite' and literally is a spending diary, has catagories etc.
The full version allows you to export the data etc, but is £1.79.
It looks as though it'll do the job. the screenshot has $'s but when running it auto sets to £'s.
I spotted another called 'Simple budget: Weekly' for 59p, ill have a read of it.
My figuring is that im not gonna leave the house without my phone or iPad, and a typical man has no business with a handbag, so carrying a spending diary might be a pain.
plus techy stuf is great!
There is a few more apps there, but i reckon i could make one - which cn be my 'instead of spending' project!

I popped in some test data, and its pretty cool.. although it IS designed for the iphone so on Le Pad it looks all pixely, but hey!
Theres a cool feature that will show a pie chart per day/week/month of how much expenditure was on food/entertainment/etc or whichever catagory you've selected! Very nice!
Also a notes section on each payment (in or out) which is a free form, and anything can be written in.
I'll keep playing and do a diary for as long as i can with it!Credit card: [STRIKE]£2533.30[/STRIKE] £0 as of July '16!Overdraft: [STRIKE]£1700[/STRIKE]£0 as of July '16!Aim:Save for a working trip to New Zealand leaving late 2016/ early 2017!0 -
I use Spendinglite to keep track of the total I owe on my credit cards. It's a great demotivational tool. If I put on the credit card I know I have to add the amount to the total. In 1 click I can see the scarey figure I owe and it does help me think twice. It's also great when you pay some off the credit card and it gives the totals you mentioned.
I have also used the vouchercloud app for discounts. In the summer we went to the model village and 4 of us got in for halfprice. It was an enjoyable cheap day.
I wish I could afford an iPad.It's part of my motivation to pay the debts off lol. I'm sure by then it will be iPad 10 though!

I have CashTracker on my iphone.:D
I think the app was £1.19 - but it was the best money I've ever spent(and the only app I've ever paid for;) It's in £'s, you can add your own catagories (like lotto, magazine's, coffee's etc) and it exports to a spreadsheet to your email. You can also set it to start at any day of the week / month. I have mine set at Saturday to Friday. I wouldn't be without it. The first month I tracked my spending I realised I'd spent £12 on magazines...............:eek:0 -
Good tips, thanks. Now, if only MSE had an app or even a mobile site for the forum!0

I use the Account Tracker its £1.79 for the full version but it was money well spent - I use it as my spending diary and its my most used app after Facebook!!

It does have a free version as well which only takes 25 transactions - If you decide to go for the full version you can transfer your data from the free version to the full version.Good tips, thanks. Now, if only MSE had an app or even a mobile site for the forum!
I would love an MSE app even if it just gave you access to the forums!! I have an app for another forum I am a member of and its good to keep upto date on there from my phone!

Ive tried about 40 different finances apps and my favourite for the iPhone is iXpenseit 4 it greats for tracking spending (personal and business). It has great budget and reporting functions to track exactly where your money is going.
Expensesense is another good one, not as clean and interface but tracks accounts but I don't care as much about tracking multiple accounts.
Jumsoft Money and Moneybook are two of the most popular ones but I found them to be too fiddly and don't show Vendors aka Shops like I wished.0 -
I didn't like Cash Tracker because I couldn't find a way to put income in etc.
I paid for Expense Tracker full version and love it as you can add categories.
Edited as I got them the wrong way round!
