Work experience??

The best thing is to apply for any internships you can find in your NHS. Are you a member of the IBMS? You can often go to networking events and meet people there.

Sadly, having experience in a lab that isn't part of what you'll be doing as part of your work as a state registered scientist isn't going to help (The NHS is a world of its own). Are you looking for work in the same region or would you be happy to relocate to a job for a while until you would be registered and thus be able to move around easier? It might be helpful to find regions where there are busier hospitals and more jobs for trainees.

I am a member of the IBMS but I can't really go along to many of the meet and greet sort of things because of disability, I do go to a few though. Most of the people I've met have agreed that all of the jobs advertised are already filled before anyone gets a look in and I keep being encouraged to keep trying.

At the moment I'm applying to NHS greater glasgow and clyde, NHS lanarkshire and NHS lothian so pretty much across the central belt. I would locate outwith that if I had to but I've not actually seen any suitable vacancies in other areas outside of those on SHOW.
