Need advice on mortgage or loan with bad credit

I really need to sort some stuff out and thought this may be the place to get some advice..I own my house which is valued at £159,000 and I bought it cash..I now need to borrow some money and want to repay credit cards owing and also few other things..I dont know if I can get a mortgage or a loan as I do have bad credit..All advice welcome..Thanks

How much do you want to borrow, what's your salary, and what exactly is the bad credit?

I would like to borrow about £35000 and the bad credit is for late payments of credit cards..
My salary, that is a complicated one, I am recently self employed and I am also at uni so not too much income..that they will probably use, does working tax credits count and what my husband pays me count towards anything?

You'd need an income to get a mortgage and if you're recently self employed you won't have enough in the way of accounts. If your husband has an income, couldn't you apply for a joint income?

Well, that would be easy but my husband and i are not together anymore..Do you think that I could get a mortgage or even a loan? Thanks

I'd advise going onto the Debt Free Wannabee forum, posting a Statement of Affairs, and getting help on tackling your debt.
