Meat basics - how much do you pay/kg/lb

I was just wondering what prices are charged across the country for basics like

Whole chickens

Chicken Thighs

Stewing beef

Brisket

Leg lamb

Shouldar of Lamb
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.

I always buy what meat/poultry is on special or what voucher code I can find for that shop.

Have an Abel & Cole delivery tomorrow and have bought 3 x 600g scrag lamb for £3.09 each to make 3 x big stews to eat and freeze.

I find the frozen whole chickens in Mr S are great value at 2 for £5

OH bought 500g fresh chicken fillets the other day from Mr M for 9p a pack.

Beef is usually when on 50% off and a big silverside top joint for about £10, then I SC, cool, then freeze into 5 meal portions for the 3 of us in gravy.

Leg of lamb is usually £11 from Ocado 1.7kg and only cook when we have visitors as a treat. Sometimes we have got these quite cheap reduced to £2-£4 and frozen.

Lamb chump chops are usually £1.50 for 2 big ones that feed the 3 of us.

We eat more lamb than beef and we pay £1.75 for 500g minced lamb which will do 2 x 4 large portioned Shepherds Pie for the 3 of us and 1 meal spare or 2 big Spag Bols with a portion frozen.

Sirloin is usually from Ocado where you get 6 seperate sealed portions in a box fresh for £10.99 and they are lovely and can be frozen, so 2 meals for a treat.

If I need to do a meat order, I do like Ocado and use a £15 off £60 voucher and that does us enough meat for 4 weeks.

I can also easily get meat such as mutton etc. I always make meat like this stretch as I know it is pricey but is the best quality and reared locally

  • I try to pay around £4-5 per kg for meat (not mince), Costco boneless pork leg is around £3.60 per kg and Costco sirloin steak is around £9.99 per kg so I use these as my guides.

I keep an eye out for reduced meat and bulk buy when I find it. Tesco had boneless pork shoulder for £2.19 per kg in early December and Sainsburys had beef joints (can't remember which) for around £4 per kg so I filled the chest freezer with these.

I can't remember how much Costco beef mince is but it's cheaper than the supermarkets and it's really good quality so I buy that in large packs and split it down.

Costco chickens are around £6.50 for two and the chickens weigh 1.750 kg each (I think that's the right size). We also get 3 for £10 from Tesco and they are usually 1.5kg - 1.750kg.

Lamb - I only buy either lamb mince - which I think is £2.99/kg in Costco or legs of lamb and I try not to pay more than about £9 per leg of lamb so again I keep an eye out for discounts - sainsbury's quite often have discounted legs of lamb.

I find ordinary supermarket meat is really expensive and I begrudge paying normal prices for it. Some of it is more expensive that Costco Sirloing steak and I know what I'd rather have if I were going to stump up £10 per kg for something!

I would love to be able to order meat from a farm supplier but it always seems so much more expensive.
