I've won lots of competitions over the past few years.
Unfortunatly I've not had time to do it full time, but if I had I think i'd do really well.
My advice is use sites like The Prizefinder and Loquax.
Do it regulary, currently I aim to do it every day for an hour or so, completing all the ones I wish to enter that close the following day, being at least oneday ahead gives you extra time incase you can't do it one day for any reason.
Although comps that require you to work for you entry, such as answring questions, looking for multiple prize graphics hidden around their site sound good, i.e. you think less people enter them, and therefore have a better chance.
In my expeirence, entering competitions is greater numbers work best, so ones that will take a long time, I leave, and enter as many easy ones as possible. The quickest ones to enter are ones that just want your email address, so if you store this in your clipboard, you do not have to retype it every time, just, paste it.
If you use a modern browser, or something like the google toolbar, you can get it to fill in things like your name, address, email and phone number with just one click, much faster than typing it everytime.

Toys
Dvd's
Clothes
Pc and Console Games
Books
Most of which I have sold on ebay for healthy profit!
