Happy Halloween everyone!

(Also Merry Samhain, All Hallow's eve.... etc!)

How will everyone be spending their DFW halloween then? I'm going to a fancy dress halloween party... but I won't spend a penny as it's at my work (I'm a nursery nurse) so I get to look after loads of hyper e-number filled children and their costumes.. LOL.

My DD's thirteenth birtday today  so she is having a few friends round to go trick or treating with. We are having hot dogs, jelly and birthday cake. Ive built up a few halloween decorations over the years so the house is covered in spiders, witches and ghosties, my dog is currently growling and telling off a cat which is a soft toy :rotfl: got some sweeties ready for Trick or Treaters but we dont get many as my house is tucked away ( even with a sign up on the lampost which says 'haunted house' and a blow up ghost hanging from the garage door )

    Happy Halloween everybody

My two have got a friend each coming for tea. We're having severed fingers and chips! I was going to buy a cake at tesco but they were way to expensive so I bought a buy one get one free christmas chocolate log and have covered it in spooky sweets! (don't shout at me for not making my own, i've not had a minute to myself to make one).

We're then going trick or treating but only to houses that are decorated or houses where we've already arranged to go.

    Happy halloween.

This is a US 'tradition', has hardly any basis in British folk customs and is being inflicted on us by commercial interests in order to make money.

They try it on all the time...anybody been suckered by 'Fathers' Day'..?

It belongs in America... unless, of course, you're proposing we start celebrating 'Thanksgiving', 'Labor Day' etc etc...?
  • We always put a carved pumpkin outside our door with a tea light inside to encourage trick or treaters but we don't let the kids go as we are too tired to go with them and they are not allowed to go on their own. We have some sweets for them in a halloween bowl but we wouldn't give them money.

Well we went trick or treating to local houses that were decorated tonight. My daughter amazed me when she was offered a bowl of sweets and fruit at one house. She chose an apple. I was so proud of her until I heard her say to her brother.....I got it for the guinea pigs! I guess it's the thought that counts!
