wages/tax

Bit annoyed.
Ive been working since sept 24th this year. Im on a temp contract with the government programme for 6 months-I finish in feb.
I get min wage , im 18 and work 25 hours. I get 4.93 a hour.
I had over paid tax –a few hundred now. I called tax and they said it will be in my next pay-5th jan.
Now, I called work and they said they had my new tax code and should be done. They paid be in December on the 23rd..so im in trouble. I have one more pay before feb when I go on jobseekers until I find a job.
But when im on job seekers I can’t claim it back.
Im annoyed as my job said they would sort it..and now messed my pay up

  • What makes you think that you can't claim it back once you are back on JSA? Any overpaid tax at this point will be rebated.

Just make sure that your payslip is equal to what you have actually paid, and it should get sorted out when you sign on.
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

So your final pay will mean you get a refund of overpaid tax at that point.

You have more than a month to find a job and not go back on JSA. What are you doing about searching for a job now? Or were you going to wait until February before you started job searching?

When you get a new job, make sure you provide a P45 or complete a P46 so that you won't be paying too much tax.

I have been looking even before this placement...and i havt found one (i was applying everyday, about 5 applications a day, and going to the jobcentre and getting those sheets with about 20 jobs in the surronding area. -even applying for jobs id never get!!!)
the chances of getting one by then are slim!
The comapny are a goverments way of massaging statsics where im "employed "for 6 months as a voluenteer and then i have to sign on again.
they are very very slow-took 7 weeks to get first pay and only just got my november pay slips, not my sept or october ...despite asking!
    they are c***
  • I get the impression the OP is quite happy to just go back on the dole.
Your employer can only use the codes HMRC give them.

Your 18/9 how about acting like an adult and sorting out your own affairs instead of whinging about others.
